There is a famous self-confidence chart that applies to every discipline. If someone asked me 10 years ago if I&#039;m good at computers, I would say that of course. With each subsequent year, I discovered how wrong I was - even though my knowledge grew. Ask a high school student if he knows Excel well - he will tell you that yes. Send it to the financial department, where complicated macros are used to generate things that are then processed further. He will come back a bit surprised. How does this relate to the title question: how to ride to survive?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cycling is similar. Clash with reality comes when you leave your current colleagues and decide to join a completely new group (or when <a href=\"https:\/\/hopcycling.pl\/en\/rondo-babka-po-raz-pierwszy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the first time you go to Rondo - here is a link to the guide on how to survive<\/a>). This group, about which the legends are circulating around the city, and the participants are fighting on the lines.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Such a visit is trauma, but everyone must pass it. However, there are a few ideas, the use of which will make it not so painful. At least mentally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">For what? (the riders on the edge)<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first and most important question that you can ask yourself is: <em>WHY? Why would I want to ride with a group where I will stop being a bull?<\/em>&nbsp;Apart from the obvious trivial matter, that when you drive faster, you get faster because every race is supposedly better than training. And such a set is for you like a race.<\/p>\n<p>Why be faster? Why do we live? Where is the goal in life? Where do we go? These are questions that everybody should find the answer for themselves. I do not consider myself to be a fast cyclist, more so standard, but in the number of trainings, which I have been lost over several years, I am probably forwarding in my city. More experienced people ride in them, there are fewer random flips (except you). The driving culture is higher - threats are shown, people know each other. The most accidents, even on the roundabout, take place at the moment of expansion (and possibly on the dash). People slow down, concentration decreases, someone somewhere hooks, everyone lies, death and unhappiness. High tempo spontaneously builds the right order.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, you will also meet people who you will meet later in the races. Having good buddies in the peloton is like increasing your threshold by some 40W - at least in our Mazovian edition. A colleague rarely cancels, more often helps in times of crisis ... and a completely different atmosphere is when one goes with someone he knows.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The guide is written by me. A man who was still open during the times when Oska Warszawa trainings were open, did not cross the Gassach airport group for the first three months, and he was forced to walk alone on the roundabout almost to the lonely season, because the peloton was already on the horizon. It passed a minimum of one year before I first appeared in the peloton on the line in Jab\u0142onna and 3 before I managed to get there first. (of course by chance, but it does not matter).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Meet people and be met<\/h2>\n<p>Asking for closed settings is a medium idea. Just like joining them somewhere on the route. The best way is to come with someone who introduces us and presents us. Such a person can be found on slower settings or during lonely rides.<\/p>\n<p>If you do not know them - hunt on popular routes. The most important point is the rule: ALWAYS before joining someone&#039;s training or driving, ask for permission. Regardless of whether it is a group or individual ride. There is nothing worse than a guest who sits down on the wheel without asking or, even worse, gives uninvited changes. Possibilities after such a question are two: either we will meet a new person and we will come out on a decent man who knows the rules or we will go out on a decent man who must be refused because a precise plan is being carried out. New people are dangerous, unpredictable - nobody likes to ride with them. It&#039;s like this elite club of the rich who is hard to get to. Either someone will introduce you or you have to park your Lambo next to the golf club and wait for it <em>it will pick up itself<\/em>. In our case, you would have to show off your strength before you even start driving with the group ...<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Start in the winter<\/h2>\n<p>Why is this entry now appearing when the number of cyclists is zero? There is no better time to join strong people than winter. It&#039;s not enough that no one in the winter rides quickly, then every pair of legs that can help you survive these difficult moments is helpful. Even at the Babel weekend roundabout, most people should stay off-season.<\/p>\n<p>In the winter, desperation in finding companions reaches a higher level. It motivates you to go out, helps with the wind and frost, guarantees that when we fall into the ditch, someone will help us ... and of course, we will find real knights of hardcore, not indelible cyclists. The best relationships are made right now.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Learn to ride<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&nbsp;- You drive well?<\/em><br \/>\n<em>&nbsp;- No, but quickly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A strong leg is a completely different leg than a weak leg. Similarly with driving. Driving in a fast group looks decidedly different than lonely or legendary <em>coffee ride<\/em>. It can not be rationally taught otherwise than by driving in this way. It&#039;s a bit like skiing. I learned to ride a small slope in Ma\u0142e Cichy for many years. The principle is this: you drive alone, you try to overcome corners as smoothly as you can, avoid obstacles with one hand on the steering wheel. Then you make arrangements with good friends and try to repeat it. Driving in a 6-person group does not differ so much from a harmonious 26-person group. In brief: <strong>learn how to ride before you want to learn how to ride! <\/strong>Before you join someone, you should have already read every text on the internet about how to behave and when. Knowledge of the cycling label is very good for everyone&#039;s health.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Come to the pre-set date<\/h2>\n<p>If the setting is in the winter and starts at 9.00, it means that you should be at it exactly at 8.59 If you will be earlier - you will be cold if later - you will be the guy who is late. In the summer, a minimum slip is allowed, but again - you do not want to be this guy. Becoming a moment earlier also makes you know someone.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the fact that if you are late for two minutes and the group goes with an average (30km \/ h, he he he;)) you will have to heat 34km \/ h for 15 minutes to catch them. Do you know what is the difference in driving under the wind between 30 in the group and 34 solo? Such as between standing and going up the stairs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Dismiss the fear of being beaten<\/h2>\n<p>Being beaten up on a set is something that everyone is afraid of. It&#039;s like this moment in middle school, when you all go to \u017babka after school for beer and you enter there one by one, because it&#039;s illegal. You go in last, go out, and no one is waiting. Everyone is on the park bench because they forgot about you. It&#039;s a natural turn of things. If you fall out of the group and you do not show up any more, you will be one of those fleeting fugitives. If the group breaks you up every week, you&#039;ll be the guy who can do it once. To whom they will notice. That&#039;s why:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">It is better to die with glory than to live like a beater<\/h2>\n<p>Which is the exact opposite of the one I use in my life. Mainly because of cycling <em>live<\/em> we have several (or maybe rather <em>kontinius\u00f3w \/ credits\u00f3w<\/em>because you die many times). The bike is not running, planning does not make much sense - at least flat and when the goal is to give advice and not to win. You must not think about the future or that you will not be able to do it in a moment. If you do not give it a hard time, you will stop, eat a chocolate bar from the shop, revive it, and take it home. Maybe soon someone will catch the gum, maybe the pace will slow down, maybe there will be a stop - you will rest. You must focus on <strong>now<\/strong> and to stay on for a moment. If you die or you feel that the level of fatigue means that you can not see anything and feel the approaching collision, mark yourself and drop out. It is beautiful to come back to this in the future: <em>I remember when I fell off here - it was beautiful.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"_5wd4 _1nc7\">\n<div class=\"_h8t\">\n<div class=\"_5wd9 direction_ltr\">\n<div class=\"_5wde _n4o\">\n<div class=\"_5w1r _3_om _5wdf\">\n<div class=\"_4gx_\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_5wd4 _1nc7\">\n<div class=\"_h8t\">\n<div class=\"_5wd9 direction_ltr\">\n<div class=\"_5wde _n4o\">\n<div class=\"_5w1r _3_om _5wdf\">\n<div class=\"_4gx_\">\n<div class=\"_d97\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">ambitions<\/h2>\n<p>I remember my first, relatively flat race in my life. Tour de Rybnik in 2012, such a criterion with a few laps around the city. On the last lap I was still in the first group, even not too tired. There were some actions, moments of doubt, but I would describe the leg as fresh. I almost won the race, I mean, it seemed to me that way, because for some 700 meters before the finish I jumped happily from the back to the first place. Somehow, nobody even chased me from this 27-person group. They rode politely behind me, setting themselves into new, unknown formations: a snake, a snake at an angle, some hussars, etc. 300 meters from the finish line, I started to wonder what to go on the podium. I do not need to add that I finished in the 27th place, and the guest behind me had a minute of loss. There is a saying (which I just invented):<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Roses are red. Violets are blue. There&#039;s always a cyclist better than you.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The conclusion is one: <strong>not a cossack until you should<\/strong>. You do not have to prove anything to anyone, if you give change, drive at the same speed as the person you jumped in. Nobody pities more than a guy who turned up the pace and then disappeared. In turn, the one that is eternally behind the back, no one treats seriously, or as part of a group.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Know the route<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Driving with a group <strong>MUST<\/strong> know the route. If you do not know her <strong>MUST<\/strong> to communicate it - especially if you&#039;re driving in the front. Apart from the psychological aspect and the comfort which gives an awareness of the places where the peloton will probably slow down or stop (eg lights), ignorance of the route is simply dangerous. Especially since the group is not a bus and the most obvious main road is usually not the preferred one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Do not talk about yourself<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&nbsp;- How do you get to know a triathlete?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> &nbsp;- He&#039;ll tell you about it himself.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Suppose you are already in the group and feel that you will live a little longer. Do not be the guy who always talks about himself - no one likes them. Seriously, people are nice and they will not tell you that, but the tens of hours they spend with each other in training, they generate a perfect field for cogging. By telling me constantly what you bought, where you were, what you almost won, it may be interesting, but rather only for your mother. Just because someone does not ask about the details of your stories does not have to be due to being tired. <strong>Do not be a teddy bear<\/strong> - Please ;-)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Ramps start at the front, turns first<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Old wolves know such tricks. Everyone knows that the first pair is the hardest. It&#039;s always a bit of a fear to bum the front of it, it&#039;s going too slow, maybe it&#039;s just the wind blowing and when you step forward you will not accelerate at all.<\/p>\n<p>Here, however, the knowledge of the route is also bowing - there are places where the peloton is stretched. Well, if there is a corner at right angles, the first pair slows down a little, the second a bit more and so on. Those in the back not only slow down, but also have to accelerate and heat the most quickly.
