Life can be fun. On one Sunday you race in the cradle of cycling with thousands of other people to the top of one of the most famous passes in the world:<\/p>\n

And a week later, with a more or less similar level of motivation, you are going to the race to Gda\u0144sk:<\/p>\n

Tri-City races are hard. After last year's Cyklo Gdynia, the bar was suspended very high and it is hard to imagine that something better could be done in terms of organization. By subscribing to the Tauron Lang Team Race I expected a similar experience. Two months earlier, in Sob\u00f3tka, it worked out pretty well. Receiving the number the day before the start, I was able to avoid Dante's at the competition office and there was no reason to complain. Czes\u0142aw gave advice and we got a well-secured route, a lot of balloons and a friendly atmosphere. Because, in principle, I expect very little from races: a secured route and smooth reception of starting numbers. It's nice, especially when going to the start a few hundred kilometers, when the route is varied or interesting sight. Here comes the first surprise: "The route runs entirely along the dual carriageway with two 180-degree turns. The route is relatively flat, fast. A strong wind can be a problem. " <\/em>I do not know myself there, but in my Mazovian dictionary the route was definitely undulating - and good, thanks to that it was more interesting. It was also incredibly fast and slow, depending on which direction you were going. It was so funny that the wind was blowing from the hill, which means that there were no gears down after exceeding 65km \/ h, and there were torments after ~ 25km \/ h.<\/p>\n

If I had to choose the most boring route in the history of my starts, Gda\u0144sk would win 100%. I do not know how the city gains on promotion when most of the time you look at sound-absorbing screens. However, as one of the colleagues on the story rightly pointed out: "The race is racing, and does not admire the views." - and it was perfect for that. Riding on the loops in the city, however, I always count on the audience. Apparently nothing, but still enjoys - although after breaking away from the peloton, lonely turning between people is slightly depressing. In the city, if not for fans, you can always count on people who want to cross the street, and can not - a bit of self-guessing lets you believe that they are standing there for us. Here, however, the loops were supposed to be in the city but a bit beyond civilization. For me, from the middle - the race reminded me of a good training on the trainer. It hurts a little, a bit dark in front of the eyes, and nothing changes on the sides. The situation was rescued by the meta \/ start, through which they passed twice on the lap and the point of supporters of the Nexus team.<\/p>\n

The race itself went as usual. Recently I mainly visit instead of training time trials near Warsaw, so the leg is ... but tourist ;-) Somewhere in the middle of the race someone left the circle, someone did not cooperate, I missed a little, there was a gap of 20 meters, then 30, then 50, and then more from the hill, the more I did not catch up with the first group. The advantage of driving around is that you constantly see how much you lose or gain. It was evident that it was perfect as the young Russians left early and came to the finish line steadily increasing their advantage. In the end, on the long distance 5 out of the first 6 people were from Russia. Almost all year '99, although the regulations prohibited taking part in minors, although it does not bother me at all and I do not know where the idea comes from. Somehow there was no one to chase them.<\/p>\n

Now it's time for the clue entry. A boring route can be experienced, because in the end it was properly described earlier and it was known what to expect. That around the forest and screens are also cool, because the protection of the route does not require any enormous resources and the chance that someone will come under the wheels also small. All the time 2-3 lanes, so safely and at the descents and at the finish .... Well, not necessarily. The pavement was exemplary throughout the entire loop except for 2-3 faults (connections) on the viaduct spread over about 100 meters. While riding in a group, along a wide road, it was difficult to notice them. On the first lap, I was hurt by the wheel.<\/p>\n

On the second, there was no surprise. At least when it comes to holes, humps and joints. Still, it was hard to believe that nobody was there yet. And in total, you did not have to wait long.<\/p>\n

One of the Russians on a short distance, reaching for the water bottle, did not foresee that the connections on the bridge are tossing the wheel. He gathered some people beside him. On the film (not mine this time) it looks more or less like this:<\/p>\n
